Nest & Anchor Counselling
Our approach
We believe in finding ways to allow children, youth and adults to express their inner worlds and anxieties; this is often accomplished through play, art and time spent in nature. It is through unstructured play that children ‘act out’ their feelings as they do not yet have capacity to ‘talk’ them out as adults do. Play is the natural language of children. It is the way that they make sense of their world, process their experience and express their feelings. Through this compassionate approach, we encourage people to explore their inner feelings and uncover emotional and behavioral blockages.
A safe space to relax, play and heal
Nest and Anchor is situated in our backyard and consists of a cottage-like clinic (complete with a second floor small loft ‘nest’ with bean bag chairs), garden beds for working with plants, Henry the labradoodle therapy dog, Juniper the new kitten and 7 chickens that are happy to be fed by clients. It is in this micro-farm oasis that grounding and healing takes place.
In-person session
Our space is located in the Fairfield Gonzales neighbourhood. It is accessible from the back alley behind 886 Maddison (alley is on Quamichan rd.).
